Cat's out of the bag. I began performing in local musicals when I was 8-years-old, and I grew up with a father and aunt who were singers and taught me the arts of gospel, power ballads, and country music. That led me to a degree in Musical Theatre from the University of Tulsa. While at Brown/Trinity Rep I took acting and singing courses while obtaining my M.F.A. in Directing. While there, I also developed This is the New World, formally beginning my reintegration back to live performance. (More like getting out of denial. As you can see from my resume page, I was still occasionally performing in new work.)
After developing my musical solo show and originating the role of Aislin Alvarez in the World Premier of Bad Medicine, it's time to add performer back to the hyphenate.

This is the New World
a musical solo "show"
written and performed by Tara Moses
This is the New World is not a play, but a call to action. Through direct community engagement, and experimentation of process, stories, and song, together we travel to the New World where one Native person is living free from the legacy of Christopher Columbus. But what will it take to arrive there?
This is an interactive performance that will ask audience members to take action before they leave the theatre. Also, it's funny as hell.
The music is in development (check back for demos soon). The entire experience runs approximately 2 hours, and the show is ready for booking starting with the 2026/27 season.
